Free Adult Coloring Pages (on Facebook) WARNING!

BEWARE ARTISTS AND ILLUSTRATORS!!  Your work may be here in this nearly 7000 member group and being shared illegally!!  https://www.facebook.com/groups/freeadultcoloringpages/?ref=br_tf  This appears to be a group allowing their members to post copyright-restricted illustrations and coloring pages either grabbed from Internet image searches, Pinterest or scanned in from books.

So -- is the crafting world surprised we're here?  Stampers (especially those who make hand-made cards) have been hooked on coloring for years.  Now the whole world is jumping in -- happily grabbing all the images they can find online for "free".  Which means that Artists are back at square one in the battle to protect our work from being shared freely without permission or attribution by people who think we should be thankful that they're stealing out work and giving us "free advertising."  It doesn't matter how you rationalize your stealing -- being sick, "too poor", stressed out or ignorant of the law does not matter.  DO NOT PASS AROUND or SHARE artwork you do not have permission to.  When are you safe?  When you can show written proof of your permission, or if you have draw it yourself.

If you are the artist and copyright owner who finds your work being shared illegally on Facebook, you can fill out a DMCA by following this link: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/208282075858952  (Facebook will delete the entire group if multiple artists file takedown notices.)  If you're a colorist who supports artists, you should try to contact via email any artists you recognize whose work is being stolen and uploaded as "free" -- send them a screenshot of the page or album that has been uploaded and they won't even have to be in the group to file a report.  You may do this anonymously by contacting Stamp Out Stamp Theft.

I've heard there's a "lively" conversation going on in the Free Adult Coloring Pages group on Facebook, but I wouldn't know myself as I was BLOCKED and my post was deleted when I posted the polite plea above for the members to please "link" to artwork instead of illegally uploading to this group.  And another artist trying to explain about copyright was blocked and her post deleted yesterday.  If you'll notice, this is another where the comments started out polite -- but believe me, the 17 pages of comments I have as screenshots from underneath Irina's post get really nasty:

Other artists and crafters who try to talk about respecting copyright law, are also summarily harassed and blocked.  The "admins" won't respond to questions - instead admins delete/block artists from seeing the group anymore, which makes me suspicious that these three admins are real profiles at all:

Bernice Jan; https://www.facebook.com/bernicethecoloringbookclub
Susan Smith https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004887949085
Manuel Leussink:  https://www.facebook.com/leussink?pnref=story

I don't want this to be a super long post, people who want to learn more about the rights of artists to decide who can use our work and IF it may be shared (YES, it is up to us how/if our work can be used!) can ask in the comments, or read some of the links in other posts on this blog.  Below, I'm going to post another conversation from this page that's going on right now, because we've got a woman here is professing to know the facts about Copyright Law (Hint: she's WRONG) and a lot of folks underneath who are thanking her for her misinformation.  Thanks for those in the conversation who ARE trying to stick up for what's right:

PS Please know that starting "new groups" in order to share images illegally shows "intent" and is a larger crime.  Copyright holders and their fans will find you.
